Awakening

(remembering Oliver Sachs)

It is as if I am asleep awakening.

Walking round and round in circles

In the multitudes of days

Hunting underneath cushions

Crouching and peering low behind doors

Inspecting hot washed jam jars

Tracing my finger along ledges,

The edges,

The corners of the surfaces

Of my existence

Something missing in plain view

Still searching for the canvas of you.

Jill Turner Arts

I acknowledge the traditional custodians throughout Western Australia and their continuing connection to the land, waters and community. I pay my respects to all members of the Aboriginal communities and their cultures, and to Elders both past and present.
